Resumen: Cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of death in modern societies. Partners play a key role throughout the process of recovery, and they are the main source of support for patients. Stroke has also a great impact in partners. Excessive concern on patients´ health and problems related to the disease can lead them to manage their anxiety with coping mechanisms such as overprotectiveness, which can have negative effects on
patients´ illness adjustment. To plann interventions it is necessary to take into account partners´ needs and their specific problems in order to get them becoming a source of effective support. This research examines the influence of psychosocial factors, such as social support and kind of partner coping, in illness adjustment in patients with coronary heart disease. The sample consisted of 109 patients and their partners (N=109) included in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Ramón y Cajal Hospital in Madrid. The results show that neither social support provided by the partner, or their satisfaction with it, have a significant relation in terms of adjustment to illness of the patient. However, patients´ perceived coping of their partner is associated with an increased adjustment to illness of patients (p = ,008), both in its physical and psychosocial dimensions. Moreover, data show that patients with higher levels of social support from partners have also higher rates of adherence to recommended guidelines. In our follow up study, these changes are maintained are 4, 8 and 12 months later.

Resumen: The Global Boundary Stratotype Section and Point
(GSSP) for the Aalenian
Stage, formally defined at the
base of bed FZ107 in the Fuentelsaz section, Castilian
Branch of the Iberian Range (Spain), has been ratified
by the IUGS. Multidisciplinary biostratigraphical data,
based on ammonites, brachiopods, ostracods, bivalves,
foraminifera, calcareous nannofossils assemblages and
palynomorphs, assure worldwide correlations; magnetostratigraphic
data increase this correlation power.
The position of the boundary coincides with the first
occurrence of the ammonite assemblage characterized
by Leioceras opalinum and Leioceras lineatum and corresponds
with a normal polarity interval correlated with
the up-to-date Jurassic magnetic polarity time scale
(Gradstein and others, 1994; Ogg, 1995).
[ABSTRACT]
The outcrops with amber from Lower Cretaceous of Peñacerrada are located in the south margin of the Vasco-Cantabrian Basin (Spain). The palynological samples come from the middle unit of the Escucha Formation and consist of mudstones, limes and lignites deposited in the sandy channels of a deltaic plain. The palynoflora is rich and diverse constituted by a high number of taxa of the
Briophyta, Lycophyta, Pteridophyta, Coniferophyta, Cycadophyta/Ginkgophyta, Gnetophyta and Magnoliophyta divisions, which developed in warm and wet climatic conditions. The inaperturate and bisaccate anemophilous and Corollina pollen grains and cingulate, taeniate and psilate, possibly hidrophilous, spores numerically dominated the assemblages. On the one hand, these associations show the existence of coniferous forests formed by trees of the Araucariaceae and Cupressaceae families, with a rich undergrow constituted by vascular cryptogamas. Besides, xeromorphic communities of the Cheirolepidiaceae family ocurred. The qualitative and quantitative analysis pointed out an Upper Aptian-Lower Albian age for the studied outcrops. The studied palynoflora presents similarities with ones from the southwestern zone of the Iberian Range, Betic Range and portuguese regions of Beira Litoral and Estremadura. This study is one of the first palynological contributions in Lower Cretaceous from Vasco-Cantabrian Basin.
Cycadophyta/Ginkgophyta, Gnetophyta y Magnoliophyta.
[ABSTRACT]
The Lower Cretaceous Montoria-La Mina section is located in the extreme southern part of the Basque–Cantabrian Basin (Spain). The succession might be included into the Escucha Formation and contains siltstones and clays with interbedded deltaic lignite and sandstone rocks. The palynological analysis of these rocks shows well preserved miospore assemblages with significant numbers of specimens in eight of the twelve analysed horizons. A diverse flora composed of forty four vascular cryptogams and twenty eight fanerogams are identified, included in the divisions Bryophyta, Lycophyta, Pteridophyta, Pteridospermophyta, Coniferophyta, Cycadophyta/Ginkgophyta, Gnetophyta
and Magnoliophyta. The palynological assemblages are dominated by anemophilous pollen grains of Corollina obidosensis and Inaperturopollenites dubius, as well as psilate spores of Cyathidites australis, which suggest warm and dry climatic conditions. The occurrence of pollen grains of ancient angiosperms is significant in the studied assemblages. They were identified as small-sized, reticulate and generally collumelate miospores. Inaperturate, operculate, monosulcate and trichotomosulcate forms attributed to the Pre-Afropollis, Clavatipollenites,
Liliacidites, Retimonocolpites and Retimonoporites pollen groups are described. The appearance of these palynological groups are compared to those in the lower part of Zone I of Potomac Group (Maryland, USA) and in the Lower Cretaceous of Israel.
[ABSTRACT]
The studied section is located near the village of Puentedey in the Province of Burgos, Spain. The area corresponds to the NW part of the North-Castilian Platform. Twenty-two samples were collected from middle Cenomanian-middle Turonian carbonate rocks. The palynological study allowed the identification of twenty-eight marine and forty-two terrestrial palynomorphs taxa. Marine palynomorphs are dominant in the assemblages from the late Cenomanian and the Cenomanian-Turonian boundary but are less abundant in the early Turonian. The terrestrial component is dominated by pollen grains attributed to the Normapolles Group. The presence of Atlantopollis microreticulatus, A. reticulatus, Limaipollenites? vilaflorensis, Complexiopollis cf. normis and Tricolpites cf. amplifissus indicates a late Cenomanian - early Turonian age which is in agreement with data provided by ammonoid fauna. Two palaeovegetation types have been identified. The first is a coastal vegetation characterized by gymnosperms (mainly Araucariaceae and Cheirolepidiaceae); the second vegetation type correspond to an open forest community dominated by anemophilous angiosperms - Normapolles producers- with an understorey composed of vascular cryptogams.

Resumen: The Fuentelsaz Section is located in the Castilian Branch of the Iberian Range (Guadalajara, Spain). Its
exceptional Lower–Middle Jurassic transition outcrops led to its designation as the Global Boundary
Stratotype Section and Point for the base of the Aalenian. The sediments of the Toarcian–Aalenian transition
at Fuentelsaz
are composed of marls with interbedded limestones in rhythmic alternation. Marls are
dominant in the Toarcian and the Opalinum Zone up to the middle part of the Comptum Subzone. In the
remaining Comptum Subzone, marly materials are scarce and limestones predominate. Sedimentation at
Fuentelsaz took place over an extensive marine epeiric carbonate platform that was well connected with the
open sea. In the Fuentelsaz Section, a total of 43 palynomorph taxa were recorded: 23 spore taxa, 13 pollen
taxa, 4 acritarchs, 2 prasinophytes and 1 dinoflagellate cyst. The studied sediment samples were always
dominated by terrestrial allochthonous miospores. In general, miospore assemblages are biased due to the
transport of pollen from land or islands to the continental platform. Spheripollenites, Classopollis or indeed
both pollens numerically dominate the assemblages. Other miospores appear in low numbers. Aquatic
palynomorphs are also scarce; Micrhystridium lymensis is the most common. Five palynological assemblages
(PA) were distinguished: PA1, PA2 and PA3 are Toarcian in age, PA4 is located at the boundary between the
Toarcian and the Aalenian and PA5. This latter palynological assemblage which is lower Aalenian in age
shows a strong reduction in palynomorph diversity and preservation in the Comptum Subzone.
Palaeoecological analysis of the palynomorphs indicated the presence of calm, oligotrophic sea water. The
palaeofloral communities of gymnosperms and vascular cryptogams—which grew in subtropical arid
conditions—were poorly diversified.
