[ABSTRACT]
This project is an artificial intelligence module for the GICE4S system that, in this first phase, has the aim of developing a prototype for the Sócrates/Erasmus exchange program management.
This prototype will support the different processes of Erasmus program through several funcionalities that support the requirements of the main users as students and coordinator.
It offers three assistants: for the university choice, for the subjects choice and one to help the coordinator to decide if a subject can be confirmed by another one.
Resumen: In 2003, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) made two key enhancements to the volatility index (VIX) methodology based on S&P options. The new VIX methodology seems to be based on a complicated formula to calculate expected
volatility. In this paper, with the use of Thailand’s SET50 Index Options data, we modify the apparently complicated VIX formula to a simple relationship, which has a higher negative correlation between the
VIX for Thailand (TVIX) and SET50 Index Options. We show that TVIX provides more accurate forecasts of option prices than the simple expected volatility (SEV) index, but the SEV index outperforms TVIX in forecasting expected volatility. Therefore, the SEV index would seem to be a superior tool as a hedging diversification tool because of the high negative correlation with the volatility index.

This study uses the case of Poland to explore the economic value of the Spanish language. As
the communities of Spanish and Polish speaking people in each country are very similar, the
problems of macro approaches are analysed. The paper takes into account the differences between
the demand of both languages in the home countries as well as in the rest of the world,
and presents the main data on the rol of both countries in the internationalization of university
studies, and specially in the Erasmus program. The main conclusion is that important benefits
draw on the belonging to a huge community of more than 400 million of Spanish speaking
people and the presence of an important demand to learn the language.

Within the article, we enumerate the three fundamental axes for European Convergence regarding Higher Education. It then focuses on the second of these axes which deals with the successful factors of this process, especially the second: learning versus teaching. In this regard, we will report on what is being done at our SSW (UCM). In particular, we will explain the following points: a) the experience obtained from the pilot programme on support for teaching which the UATD (Unidad de Apoyo Técnico a la Docencia)[Technical Teaching Support Unit], started up during this 2003-2004 academic year, and how this is being implemented in several subjects, and, b) our experience with European Networks and the importance of the Erasmus Mundus Programmes for postgraduates at our schools within the EU framework.
