Abstrakt: Learning is the basis for research and lifelong training. The implementation of virtual environments for developing this competency requires the use of effective learning models. In this study we present an experiment in positive learning from the virtual campus of the Complutense University
of Madrid (UCM). In order to carry it out we have used E-Ling, an e-learning environment that has been developed with an innovative didactic design based on a socio-constructivist learning approach. E-Ling has been used since 2006 to train future teachers and researchers in “learning to research”. Some of the result of this experiment have been statistically analysed in order to compare them with other learning models. From the results obtained results we have concluded that E-Ling is a more productive proposal for developing competences in learning to research.

Abstrakt: In this paper we prove that, under suitable conditions, Atanassov’s Ka operators, which act
on intervals, provide the same numerical results as OWA operators of dimension two. On
one hand, this allows us to recover OWA operators from Ka operators. On the other hand,
by analyzing the properties of Atanassov’s operators, we can generalize
them. In this way,
we introduce a class of aggregation functions – the generalized Atanassov operators – that,in particular, include two-dimensional OWA operators. We investigate under which conditions these generalized Atanassov operators satisfy some properties usually required for aggregation functions, such as bisymmetry, strictness, monotonicity, etc. We also show that if we apply these aggregation functions to interval-valued fuzzy sets, we obtain an
ordered family of fuzzy sets.

Abstrakt: One of the main problems in practice is the difficulty in dealing with membership functions. Many decision makers ask for a graphical representation to help them to visualize results. In this paper, we point out that some useful tools for fuzzy classification can be derived from fuzzy coloring procedures. In particular, we bring here a crisp grey coloring algorithm based upon
a sequential application of a basic black and white binary coloring procedure, already introduced in a previous paper [D. Gomez, J. Montero,
J. Yañez, C. Poidomani, A graph coloring algorithm approach for image segmentation, Omega, in press]. In this article, the image is conceived as a fuzzy graph defined
on the set of pixels where fuzzy edges represent the distance between pixels. In this way,we can obtain a more flexible hierarchical structure of colors, which in turn should give useful hints about those classes with unclear boundaries.

Abstrakt: The currently-in-use definition of aggregation function is analyzed in this paper, noting that the introduced variability in the dimension of information does not avoid some obvious dysfunctions. In particular, a potential abuse of the mathematical formalism underlies such a definition, which could lead to solve a complex concept by means of a formal mathematical expression.
In this paper we propose an alternative definition making emphasis on the practical implementation of aggregation functions, taking into account the objectives and limitations observed in the application of aggregation functions within the fuzzy context.
Abstrakt: Building computational systems capable of creating and interpreting narrative content has been an objective of Artificial Intelligence since its beginnings. Its development, however, has been blocked by what is commonly
known as the knowledge acquisition bottleneck, which does not permit story processing in the large.
In this dissertation, a computational system that tries to take one step forward in the target of making it possible
to process narrative content on a larger scale is presented. Two stages of research towards this goal
are detailed. A semantic approach to narrative processing not yielding satisfying results is first explained. Then, a different system modelling a focus shifting towards a structural management that provided better results is shown.
The current state of the art is studied in detail. Empirical validation has been carried out to prove to the possible extent the proposed hypothesis (the plausibility of structural processing for narrative content). Discussion
about the most important aspects and design decisions is also included, and possible future lines of investigation are also exposed.
